Mr. Mark R. Frederick, KHS
, B.A. (Hons), LL.B, FCIArb
Chairman
Born
in Sioux Lookout, Ontario in 1963, Mr. Frederick is a barrister
and solicitor with Miller Thomson LLP, a national law practice
based in Toronto. He was called to the bar in Ontario in
1988 and in British Columbia in 1993.
Although
a barrister by practice in the area of commercial litigation,
Mr. Frederick also concentrates in the area of insurance
and mining law. In 1994, he obtained a Fellowship designation
from the London, England based Institute of Chartered Arbitrators,
specializing in international arbitration. Mr. Frederick
also co-authored a book on the duties and responsibilities
of directors and officers which is now into its third printing.
Mr. Frederick acts as counsel for several domestic and British
insurers and brokers.
Mr.
Frederick's mining expertise dates to his entry into the
practice of law in 1988. He has appeared before the Ontario
Mining Commissioner on numerous occasions, as well as in
all levels of Ontario and British Columbia courts. His experience
includes issues relating to development and joint-venture
arrangements in mining, mine operations and environmental
regulation. Mr. Frederick joined Inter-Citic in 1997 as
a director and has sat on the company's audit committee.
Mr. Frederick became Chairman of the company in 2000.
He believes in a philosophy of determining collective interests
and employing creative solutions to achieve the strategic goals
of the company.
Mr.
James J. Moore
President
& CEO
Possessing an entrepreneurial nature, Mr. Moore has spent
the past fifteen years of his career working in international
businesses all of which have been directly and exclusively
involved in post-communist era markets.
Since
1997 Mr. Moore has worked closely with the Hong Kong based
investor groups who have supported Inter-Citic. An important part
of his work has been focusing on developing key relationships
within the mineral industry in China. With direct experience that spans more than a decade, he has witnessed first-hand the continuing evolution
of China's mining industry as well as becoming well accustomed
to dealing with the subtleties and nuances of the Chinese
business culture. Over the past ten years he has visited
the People's Republic of China on business on over 50 occasions. Mr. Moore is credited with assembling the Inter-Citic
team and maintaining the company's successful focus on the China mineral
industry, and more particularly the Dachang Gold Project.
Prior
to his work in China, Mr. Moore held the position of Vice-President,
Finance and Operations of the Klon Group of companies. The
Klon Group was a very successful start-up oil-trading group
with offices in Toronto, Boston and Moscow, controlled by
citizens of the former Soviet Union who were operating at
the forefront of the Perestroika reform movement. In each
of the four years Mr. Moore was with The Klon Group the
company had profitable operations with revenue in excess
of US$100 million.
In
addition to the above, Mr. Moore is a Past President of
Toronto's Ontario Club, and has the distinction of being
the youngest person ever to hold the highest office of the
prestigious 100-year-old business and social club. Mr. Moore
is married with three children and resides in the
Greater Toronto Area.
Dr. Michael Doggett, M.Sc., Ph.D.
Dr. Doggett is an independent mineral economics consultant working with a variety of large and small mining companies throughout the world. He currently serves on the boards of 3 publicly traded Canadian junior mining companies. In addition, he has taught professional development courses in project evaluation to more than 800 industry participants in more than a dozen countries over the past 15 years.
He received his BSc in geology in 1983 followed by an MSc in 1987, and a PhD in 1994. From 1997 to 2007, he served as Director of the Mineral Exploration Program in the Department of Geological Sciences and Geological Engineering at Queen’s University. He continues to guest lecture at universities in Canada and Australia and to teach professional development courses under their auspices.
Dr. Doggett is a member of the Committee for Earth Resources at the United States National Academy of Sciences and sits on the Board of Directors of the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC). His achievements in the field of mineral economics have been recognized by the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum who presented him with their Robert Elver Mineral Economics Award in 2002. The Society of Economic Geologists named Dr. Doggett as their International Exchange Lecturer for the year 2005.
Mr.
Malcolm Swallow, B.Sc. (Hons)
Mr. Malcolm Swallow holds a B.Sc. (Hons) in Mining Engineering. He is an Associate of the Royal School Mines, a Fellow, Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining, and holds the designations of Chartered Engineer (UK,) European Engineer, Professional Engineer, (British Columbia). Mr. Swallow senior mining industry professional and Mining Engineer with over thirty five years of operations and project management experience in the mining industry, principally concentrating on the evaluation, development, construction and operation of underground and open pit mines and their associated plants and infrastructure, involving both base metals and industrial minerals, from grass roots exploration to production. He has extensive experience in evaluation and development of operations from green field sites through planning, permitting, feasibility and financing, to construction and then into production, whilst integrating the mining operations into non-mining communities. Most recent experience includes control of exploration programmes in foreign countries, turn around situations on small scale mines, evaluation and construction of large scale open pit operations, planning, permitting, control of shaft sinkers, contractors, consultants, metallurgical test work, government and bank negotiation and all other work involved in mine management and corporate development.
Mr.
Carlos Ho
Mr.
Carlos Ho graduated from Boston University, Boston, Massachusetts,
USA with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration.
Currently he is Assistant to Managing Director of Henderson (China) Investment Co. Ltd., a member of the $20 B Henderson Land Group based in Hong Kong and founded by Dr. Lee Shau Kee. The Managing Director of Henderson (China) Investment Co. Ltd is Mr. Peter Lee (Lee Ka Kit), who is son of Dr. Lee Shau Kee. Mr. Ho has been an executive director in Kuentai
Securities (Kam Ngan) Company Ltd., a member of the Stock
Exchange of Hong Kong. He is responsible for the operations
of the company. Mr. Ho has extensive experience in the fund
management sector in both the US and Hong Kong. Mr.
Ho is a member of the Macau Youth Entrepreneur Association,
Macau. The objective of this association is to establish
and maintain relationships and connections with specific
entities and groups in Macau, China and Hong Kong and to
enhance Macau's exposure in the Chinese and international
market.
Mr.
Ho has been an executive director of Inter-Citic since 2002.
He is also a member of the executive committee and compensation
committee. While actively involved in the strategic planning
of the company business, he is also responsible for establishing
and maintaining the relationships in the PRC.
Mr.
Adrian Pedro Ho
Mr. Adrian Ho holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics degree from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Previously, Mr. Ho worked as an investment banker at FB Gemini Capital Limited, a Hong Kong based Taiwanese bank, and at Tai Fook Capital Ltd., a Hong Kong investment bank. He has extensive experience in initial public offerings, mergers and acquisition advisories, equity and debt capital market transactions, and many fund raising exercises. Mr. Ho is currently the Managing Partner of Global Eco Ventures, a venture capital fund specialized in environmental technologies. He is also the co-founder and Executive Director of Asia Water Solutions Company, Ltd., an environmental solutions business for the Greater China market. Mr. Ho is President of HP Macau Limited (Hong Kong); a privately held company with venture holdings in the entertainment and leisure industries. Mr. Ho is also an Executive Director of AFG Group Limited (Hong Kong) which is a privately held group of companies engaging in gaming and entertainment supplies, distribution and services.
Mr. Zhang Hongyi
Mr. Zhang Hongyi graduated from the Beijing Institute of Foreign Trade with a degree in Foreign Trade and Economics, in August, 1969. He is a fellow member of the Hong Kong Institute of Bankers and was professor of the Wuhan University and also an adjunct professor of the Graduate Department of the People's Bank of China. He retired from the Bank of China in 2006. He is former Executive Vice President of China Development Institute (Shenzhen) and General Manager of Bank of China (Macau). He has also served as Independent Director of Shenzhen Rural Commercial Bank and Ping An Insurance (Group) Company (HKSE); and non-executive Director of the Bank of East Asia (China) – a wholly owned subsidiary of Bank of East Asia (HKSE). Currently Mr. Zhang is Director of Henderson (China) Investment Co. Ltd.
Mr. Donald Brown, B.Comm., C.A., C.F.P.
Mr.
Brown brings a wide range of corporate finance experience
to Inter-Citic. From 1977 to 1998 Mr. Brown was a Partner
at KPMG, including serving as their managing partner of
four locations and lead partner in Entrepreneurial Services
practices from 1986 to 1991. Prior to leaving public accounting
in 1998, he was Practice Leader for the Industrial Products
and Automotive Industries sector of the KPMG Greater Toronto
Area Manufacturing, Retail & Distribution Group.
Mr.
Brown has wide-ranging experience in manufacturing, distribution,
financial services, real estate and construction, technology,
and various service businesses. These have been primarily
privately-owned Canadian operations, ranging in size from
start-up to volumes of hundreds of millions of dollars.He
is currently the Managing Director of Catalyst Strategies
Inc., a private investment and consulting company, and serves
as Chief Financial Officer for a privately-owned group of
investment and real estate companies.
Mr.
Brown holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University
of Toronto (1969) and qualified as a Chartered Accountant
in 1972 and a Certified Financial Planner in 1998. He is
also Past Chair of the United Way of York Region and a Past
Director of the Mississauga Board of Trade, Community Living
Mississauga, The Mississauga Living Arts Foundation, and
United Way of Peel Region.
Mr. Peter Joynt, C.A., B.Comm.
Mr. Peter Joynt is a Chartered Accountant, and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree. He is a senior executive with extensive operating and merchant banking experience. Currently principal in Balsam Capital Inc., his own consulting practice with assignments in various companies on behalf of a mid-sized merchant bank. Previously Mr. Joynt was Manager in Audit, Management Consulting and Valuation at Clarkson Gordon.
